Tamim Iqbal Becomes BCB President After Board Director Vote

Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has officially been elected as the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) following the latest board elections held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

He initially secured his position as a director from the Dhaka clubs category before being chosen as president by the newly formed board. As he was the only candidate for the top post, his selection was confirmed without contest.

Tamim Iqbal emerged as the highest vote-getter in the Dhaka clubs category with 73 votes. Other top performers included Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Israfil Khosru with 72 votes each, followed by Masuduzzaman and Yasir Faisal.

The election featured 16 candidates competing for 12 director seats in the Dhaka clubs category.

The newly formed 25-member board includes representatives from divisional and district associations, Dhaka clubs, and Category-3 representatives.

Category-1 includes officials from all major divisions such as Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, and Barishal. Category-2 consists of club representatives including Tamim Iqbal and other elected members.

The newly formed 25-member BCB board comprises 10 representatives from the divisional and district cricket associations (Category-1), 12 Dhaka club representatives (Category-2), and one representative from Category-3, reports BSS. The elected BCB directors: Category-1 (Divisional and District Associations) Dhaka Division: Sayeed Bin Zaman, SM Abdullah Al Fuad Chattogram Division: Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Moyeen Uddin Chowdhury Khulna Division: Shafiqul Alam, Shantanu Islam Rajshahi Division: Mir Shakrul Alam Rangpur Division: Mirza Faisal Amin Sylhet Division: Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury Barishal Division: Mizanur Rahman Category-2 (Club Representatives) Tamim Iqbal, Masuduzzaman, Fahim Sinha, Asif Rabbani, Yasir Mohammad Faisal Ashiq, Mirza Yasir Abbas, Israfil Khasru, Rafiqul Islam, Sarkar Mahbub Ahmed Shamim, Shahnian Tanim, Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Shafiq Ahmed. Category-3 Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir.

Alongside Tamim, the elected directors are Masuduzzaman, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Yasir Abbas, Israfil Khosru, Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed, Shahnian Tanim, Fahim Sinha, Yasir Faisal, Asif Rabbani, Dr Mahbub Shamim and Sakeef Ahmed Salam. Tamim emerged as the top vote-getter with 73 votes. Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Israfil Khosru received the second-highest tally with 72 votes each, followed by Masuduzzaman with 70 votes and Yasir Faisal with 68.

Tamim Iqbal BCB President Appointment Confirmed

After the board formation, Tamim was officially selected as the 18th President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the sixth president to be elected through a formal voting process. Fahim Sinha was elected as vice-president.
