Elon Musk’s Starlink to operate in Bangladesh

The global satellite internet service provider Starlink, owned by Tech Tycoon Elon Mask is expected to launch services in Bangladesh by 2023.

Currently they are accepting pre-order from this region.

A tweet from Elon Musk’s space agency and Starlink producer SpaceX official account, stated that worldwide 32 countries are using Starlink internet service, including some parts of the United States, Mexico, Germany, France and Spain.

Starlink website showed a map with 3 types of marked areas around the globe.

The “Available” marked countries can already get their installation packages.

The other two markers are “Waitlist” and “Coming Soon”.

Bangladesh was marked under the “coming soon” area with deep blue color.

Furthermore, hovering the cursor over Bangladesh a pop-up message showed that service will start from 2023.

However, pre-booking is open for 99 USD, around 8700 BDT.

But the website also mentions that those who book in advance in the coverage area will get the service first.

Starlink utilizes overhead satellites to boost internet connections.

After purchasing a Starlink subscription, the user will be provided with a satellite dish and a router.

The user can then set up the dish on rooftops or on the backyards.

The router can be set at home.

After setup user need to download an app on his Android or IOS device for configuration.

Starlink is well-known for it’s high speed and low latency internet service.

According to SpaceX, Starlink is currently providing about 150 Mbps download speed and 20 Mbps upload speed with latency below 30ms.

When additional satellites are launched, the download speed should double to about 300 Mbps.

With this Starlink will be able to provide high speed internet connectivity to the rural and far lands of the country where internet is unavailable.

If things go accordingly Bangladesh can be benifitted by Starlink.

The first 60 Starlink satellites were released into orbit in May 2019.

Since then, over 2,000 Starlink satellites have been launched, with the broadband service now being offered in 32 countries around the world.
