Bangladeshi brand Walton brought their latest phone Walton Primo S8 mini to take the country’s smartphone market by storm. With the power packed snapdragon processor under the hood including good camera and display, Walton is calling it THE GAMING WARRIOR.

Walton’s most recent smartphone was released , targeting the low budget consumers of Bangladesh, on 16th of April.

Let’s have a look at what the smartphone is offering:

Design

Starting with the design, the smartphone comes with 3 different color variant STONE WHITE, INK BLACK, FOREST GREEN. On the top left back, there’s the quad camera setup including a flash. Below the camera module the fingerprint scanner is placed. The glossy wavy rainbow-like design on the back with glass finish makes it more eye-catchy. A secondary noise cancellation mic on the top, the primary mic, 3.5 mm audio jack, USB type-c port, speaker features the bottom part. The right side holds the power and volume buttons. On the left there’s the 3-in-1 sim and memory card slot.

Despite being a budget phone and having the dimension of 163.65mm x 77.65mm x 9.15mm and 205gm weight, it still feels elegant in hand. Also, the phone is comfortable to hold with one hand.

Display

One of the key selling points of S8 mini is its display. With its incredible 6.53-inch LTPS FHD display with aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and the resolution of 2340×1080 pixels and 400nits brightness, the content on the screen will come to life to the user. The single punch hole camera cut out on the left top side of the screen makes it more stylish.

The brand also promises that movie, video streaming and games will be smooth on the screen. The display type is LTPS INCELL full lamination technology with 2.5D curved glass. But no information on the display protection was found.

Performance

The reason Walton calling it the gaming warrior is definitely for its processor. Primo s8 mini features QUALCOMM SNAPDRAGON 665 2.0GHz octa core processor and Kyro 260 64-bit. The processor is a bit old but still able to provide excellent performance. The Qualcomm Adreno 610 up to 960MHz runs the GPU. Qualcomm snapdragon 665 is a mid to high performing chipset with artificial intelligence to enhance the experience of gaming, camera performance and security. The CPU and GPU combination can handle almost any daily task and can provide decent gaming experience.

The phone runs on Android 11 associated with Vsmart OS. S8 mini is the first phone to run on Vsmart OS. The new neat and clean operating system can enhance the user experience even more.

Memory

s8 mini comes with 4GB and 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM. But the internal memory (ROM) remains the same 64GB for both versions. There is also the option to upgrade the storage Up to 256GB using an external memory card. Further the phone is equipped with UFS 2.1 memory system that provides awesome data transfer speed with low power consumption to make the user experience more immersive.

Camera

Walton is progressing day by day in the camera category. The main camera setup on the back features 4 camera (16mp+8mp+2mp+2mp) and a single 13mp selfie camera on the front.

Walton calling its quad camera setup on the back “FANTASTIC FANTABULOUS FOUR”. Because of the 8-megapixel ultrawide camera sensor along with the main 16 megapixels sensor, the capability to capture more area and details increases. The camera features autofocus with PDAF and LED flash while the aperture is f/1.8. There are also two 2mp sensor for depth sensing and macro photo shooting. So, portraits and small objects will appear awesome and detailed as anyone would like. In addition to that, the phone also features quad lenses for different modes of shooting. The shooting modes includes Photo, Macro, Beauty, AR sticker, Slow motion, Time-lapse, Manual, Fast motion, Portrait, HDR, Color filter and Self-Timer.

The punch hole cut out on the S8 mini houses a 13 mp single selfie camera with Beauty Video feature, which allows to click beautiful and confident shots. Also the large sensor size allows to take detailed and colorful selfie.

Both the rear and front cameras can record 4K video in 30fps. The rear camera provides video stabilizer, video face detection and interruption free recoding. The front camera also comes with video face detection. So details will never be missed while recording our precious memories. Walton deserves high appreciations for implementing 4K video recording on the front camera, the space is not available on the front camera even on phones with almost double budget.

Battery

The Walton Primo S8 mini has a 5000mAh Li-polymer battery to handle the workload and survive the whole day. The 18-watt fast charging adapter provided with the box can juice this gigantic battery for gaming and so on. The USB type-C cable features Quick Charge 3.0.
