Bangladesh in Full Support for Qatar and Palestine at Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha
Bangladesh has voiced full support for Qatar and Palestine at the Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, condemning Israel’s attack on Qatar as a violation of international law and urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation OIC states to unite against Israeli aggression. Bangladesh has reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Qatar and Palestine, calling on the Muslim world to take a united stand against Israeli aggression. Speaking at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on 15 September 2025, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain condemned Israel’s attack on Qatari territory and described it as an assault on the dignity of the entire Muslim Ummah.
The summit, attended by leaders and senior dignitaries from across the OIC and the Arab League, highlighted growing calls for coordinated diplomatic, political, and economic measures to hold Israel accountable for repeated violations of international law.
Bangladesh’s Position at the Doha Summit
At the emergency meeting, Adviser Touhid Hossain delivered a strong statement on behalf of Bangladesh. He declared that the “unprovoked and unjustifiable” Israeli attack was not only a direct aggression against Qatar but also a threat to the sovereignty and dignity of all Muslim nations.
“This reckless adventure by Israel disregards the UN Charter, international humanitarian law, and repeated UN resolutions. It is not an attack on Qatar alone, but an affront to the dignity of the Muslim Ummah,” he said.
Bangladesh emphasised the need for collective action by OIC member states, urging them to employ coordinated diplomatic, political, and economic measures to deter further Israeli provocation.
Calling for Accountability, Bangladesh slams Israel
The Bangladeshi delegation made clear that Israel must be held responsible for its repeated acts of aggression:
Immediate cessation of attacks: Dhaka demanded that Israel stop all illegal activities and respect the territorial sovereignty of Muslim states.
International intervention: Bangladesh urged the UN Security Council and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to take concrete steps to hold Israeli leaders accountable.
Protection of Palestine: The speech reaffirmed Bangladesh’s call for the establishment of a two-state solution, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
The Summit in Doha: Unity of the Muslim World
The emergency summit, chaired by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, gathered 24 heads of state and government, alongside foreign ministers and senior dignitaries from other member countries.
In their opening remarks, OIC Secretary General Hussain Ibrahim Taha and Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit reminded participants of the charter objectives of their organisations: safeguarding the peace, dignity, and security of the Muslim Ummah.
The leaders present issued a unified condemnation of Israel’s attack on Qatar on 9 September 2025, calling it a blatant violation of sovereignty and international law. They pledged “all-out support” to ensure the safety, security, and dignity of Muslim nations under threat.
Focus on Gaza and Humanitarian Crisis
Beyond the Qatar issue, the summit also turned its attention to the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza. Leaders called for an immediate end to the Israeli occupation of Gaza.
Recognition of Palestine as an independent state under the two-state formula, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Uninterrupted access to international aid and food supplies for Palestinians, as thousands face starvation under the ongoing blockade.
The humanitarian appeal underscored the urgency of the crisis, with leaders stressing that Palestinian men, women, and children are dying from hunger due to restricted aid access.
Bangladesh slams Israel: Strong Words Against Israeli Aggression
The tone of the summit was resolute. Leaders described the attacks as “genocide” and “systematic violations of territorial sovereignty”. Calls for legal accountability at international forums were unanimous, reflecting a new determination within the Muslim world to challenge Israel’s continued disregard of international norms. Bangladesh has long maintained a principled foreign policy stance on the Palestinian issue. The country does not recognise Israel and has consistently supported the Palestinian struggle for statehood at the UN and other international platforms.
